[OPEN LOG] Welcome to Cape Beryl!
Who: Everyone!
When: Spring 2nd - all day.
Where: All across Cape Beryl.
What: You've splashed down into the Harvest Goddess's sacred pond, pulled yourself out - or perhaps been pulled out by an out-of-breath and soaking stranger, shaken off the worst of the shock of the cold and the unexpected trip underwater, and likely by now noticed that the little silver piece of jewelry that put you through this seems to have found its way around your neck.
Now you ought to get your bearings. Leave Goddess Grotto whenever you're ready, take the path out along a beach and up the cliffs to a village - see where you are, maybe if you can get directions. No matter what, you're going to realize that you're somewhere new - but maybe some of the Bower Village townspeople will be willing to help you get sorted out. If nothing else, maybe you'll be drawn into talking to anyone else you might catch sight of wandering the village, disoriented, soaked to the skin, and with a silver heart-shaped pendant around their neck. Depending on how you see it, you're not all alone - not any more than everyone else, anyway.
Headers for open interactions in example locations will be posted - but by all means, start threads wherever and with whoever you like!
Rating: Expected K-PG - subject to change as appropriate.
It's a cool, early spring day - the air and the breeze may not agree with anyone with wet clothes. But apart from that, the atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful; distant chirps of birds can be heard from the mouth of Goddess Grotto to Mt. Throne. The trees and grasses are pale green and flowers are budding in the meadows - not to mention the garden at Florist Lilia and de Sainte-Coquille Park.
And the town at the top of the cliffs is somewhat drowsily at peace. It's far from deserted - stabled behind a house on the town's east side is a healthy-looking mule, and a pair of chickens and a goat hang around in a pen behind an inn, the town's brightly-dressed mailwoman is out and about, as is the town watchman, who will likely be ready to approach anyone with an unfamiliar face before they can approach him, if he happens to catch them on his rounds. However, although anyone may freely knock on any of the doors in Bower Village and expect a polite "come in", no one is prepared for company, and whoever is inside might jump at finding themselves talking to a clearly displaced stranger!

"I'll be alright. Thank you for... assisting me, there. It seems I owe you again."
Once with her shadow, and now here too. She slowly pulled herself up so she was sitting on her behind, still shaking-- partly from the adrenaline, and partly from the chill in the air. She looked up at him properly now, studying him. It seems he was soaked as well, as his hair wasn't held back by his usual gel. His hair wouldn't have been that wet even if he had just pulled her out-- he could keep his head above water.
"I suspect the same way you came here. Your footsteps ended at the pond, and when I investigated it, there was something silvery inside it. I thought perhaps it was one of your earrings, so I reached in..."
She frowned, looking contemplative.
"And then was pulled the rest of the way. Do you have any idea where we are? I doubt it's the TV world; I don't feel the same heaviness in the air as the time I was inside before gaining my Persona. And these sorts of plants..."
Looking around the grotto, her frown became more distinct.
"It's not warm enough for things to be in full bloom like this yet in Inaba, nor do they seem native to the surrounding area..."
no subject
"Uh- n-nevermind. I've been tryin' to work out where we are since I washed up here. Big guy ain't answerin'," he noted, tapping his scarred brow.
But his heart was beating faster now. When he peeked back, he noticed she'd been watching him a while, and his stomach tied into a knot. Kanji chose instead to busy himself with something else, wringing out her hat before smoothing it down and offering it to her, eyes averted.
"Inaba's hours from an ocean anyway; s'why we all took the scooters, or... y'know, my bike. Whatever grabbed us dragged us along for a while." Yet how didn't either of them drown? He knew he could only hold his breath for a minute or so tops.
But he looked back then, when he realized something else. "Wait a sec... y-ya went lookin' for me?"
He can't have been gone for long! Or had he really been semi-conscious, drifting underwater for longer than he thought?

He did like to wear a lot of piercings, after all. And with the footsteps having stopped right at the pond, she couldn't help but be concerned.
"Big guy... Ah, you mean Takeji Zaiten. That is... unsettling. A moment please."
She concentrated for a moment, searching for her own Persona's voice. But, she only got a muffled response in return. He was still there, in the back of her mind, but...
"...It seems I have the same problem."
Taking her hat, she gingerly put it on her head, making a face at the rather wet feeling of it still. Naoto nodded as Kanji spoke, but paused, noticing finally that strange pendant of his.
"Kanji, you're wearing a new necklace... when did you get that?"
Perhaps that was an answer to their current situation? Some sort of clue? But at his own question, she nodded.
"Well, yes. You had dropped..."
She reached into her pocket, hoping the small charm hadn't been destroyed or lost by the water. Pulling out the small handmade bunny, she held it out for him to take.
"This, at the train station, and when I went to return it to you at the shop, your mother told me you hadn't come back yet and suggested checking around the floodplain. I found your footprints in the mud along there and followed them."
All very matter-o-fact about it.

"Uh- th-thanks," he said, retrieving the little knit rabbit. So wet and squishy, the poor thing had seen better days. The fact that she went out of her way to return it meant more than she'd realize.
After safely tucking the tiny yarn lapine into his pocket, he gathered up his jacket and stood, offering her a hand up. Once she was up, he immediately draped his jacket over her shoulders. He didn't miss that shiver; she needed it more than he did. "Huh? New necklace? Whadda--"
But he looked down and took up the silver thing, expecting that brass bullet charm. Instead, there was a black stone with a faint yellow tinge to it. Come to think of it, wasn't this the thing he'd reached for at the 'bottom' of that pond?
He looked up. "Oi, Naoto... Y'got one, too."
She normally didn't wear anything like a necklace, but... it was kinda pretty on her.

She nodded, taking his hand as he offered to pull her up. Her legs were a little bit shaky from the experience, and well... it's not like he hadn't helped her up before. But at his draping his jacket, Naoto blinked, glancing down.
"Kanji-kun, you do not need to--"
But that thought was cut off when he pointed out that she herself was wearing a necklace. She glanced down herself, moving to hold it and look at it properly.
"What is this...? Was this what we saw in the pond?"
She reached up, taking Kanji's necklace in her hand and compared to two.
"Yours seems a bit yellow, while my own is hinted green... what does this mean?"
no subject
"I-I'unno... Here, y'wanna have a better look at it, just-" He reached for the chain and felt around the back for the clasp. When he wasn't quite feeling one, he opted for trying to pull it up and over his head, but it seemed just too small to clear his head.
"Hang on-" Her face was really close, his heart was pounding! Maybe that's why he can't find the stupid clasp and get this thing off of him.
"The hell is it!? This thing was put on me somehow!"
no subject
Naoto pulled back finally, reaching around her neck to feel for the clasp of her own necklace. Failing to find one, Naoto's frown deepened.
"It appears I can't remove my own, either."
She went silently for a moment, glancing to the side as Kanji still struggled to remove his necklace. When she spoke again, it had that harder, analytically edge to it.
"Kanji-kun, that pool of water was always there before in the forest, correct? Somewhere you used to go before?"
If it had just randomly appeared before him, well...
no subject
"That pond?" He paused, looked down at the grass, and tried to think. Those woods were one of his favorite places to go as a kid, somewhere he could climb trees and pretend he was fighting monsters. But were there any ponds or lakes?
"I dunno... I was wandering around after we all left the train station, and I wound up there. I kinda-" He stopped, furrowed his eyebrows.
"I kinda had this weird feeling like I needed to be there for some reason. Like there was somethin' there just for me."
no subject
Naoto crossed her arms, thinking it over for a moment.
"It's reasonable to assume then that we were intentionally called here. You intentionally and perhaps me by accident, I'm unsure. But whatever it is put something in that pond that we both reached in for, dragged us here and placed these strange necklaces around us that we can't remove, and and I doubt we could return the way we came in."
Her eyes narrowed, and she turned towards the entrance.
"Whatever dragged us here, if it put that much effort into it, I doubt they'd leave us in the middle of the wilderness to die. There must be some sort of civilization near by."
She turned to Kanji and nodded.
"I suggest we split up, gather information, and if we don't see one another again by the time the sun starts to set, we meet up here and discuss what we've found."
no subject
But he nodded. Why give somebody a necklace and then leave you to rot? Even Marie's world gave them a little edge against all the crap thrown against them, among the other shadow worlds.
With a quiet sigh of relief, she had a plan. This was good because he seriously had no idea what to do right now, but gathering info was something he could do, having practiced it so much for the last year.
"H-here at sundown if we don't bump into each other? Yeah, I can- I can work with that!" Thank you, Naoto, for having plans, because he was about to try and find a way back up the waterfall and even to him that sounded stupid.
"Keep the jacket! It's heavy, but it's warm, yeah?!" He blurted, folding his arms tight over his chest.
"Y'know, 'til the clothes dry!"
no subject
"Good, I'm glad you agree--"
She blinked at his demand, glancing at her shoulder to where the jacket rested.
"Are you certain? I wouldn't want to cause you to catch a cold or flu."
no subject
He paused when he noted that there were footprints in the sand... more than a pair, actually, and small stone bowls filled with spring flowers, fruit and incense. It reminded him of the little offerings he and his mother left at his late father's grave, and he worked to push down that little pang in his chest.
"S'gotta be a town around here... do people worship somethin' here?" Oh, crap, were they just splashing around in some deity's pond or something? He was gonna raise some hell if they're struck by lightning or something the minute they leave the grotto. He could almost hear the voice of Takeji Zaiten somewhere in the back of his head, rumbling a challenge.
no subject
If he caught a cold, it wasn't her fault. At his words, Naoto glanced around as well, taking in the full area. How had she missed that?
"If they do, it would give more evidence to the theory something pulled us here intentionally; we've had enough experiences with gods and goddesses and the like to know they're more then capable of such things."
A chill went up Naoto's spine, and it wasn't just from the wet clothing. T-thinking about that experience... perhaps the memories of them waving their Senpai off had been just a dream, and after they had been pulled down they'd ended up here instead?
...No. That was just paranoia talking. When Naoto opened her mouth again, she tried to hold off that slight shake in her voice.
"I... I will head off now. Take care, Kanji-kun. And remember, at Sunset if we do not meet before then!"
She started walking towards the entrance, making a face at the feel of her soaked shoes squishing along. This wasn't going to be a fun trip...

It helped him sleep better a night to put that behind him, instead of sitting upright and gasping like he did the night before.
But he fell quiet, felt chilled. He was glad for the subject change, and he lifted a hand in a wave.
"Y-yeah, sure. Right here at sunset if nothin' else! I'll turn this place upside down if I gotta!" He nodded firmly, and took off, his shoes squishing and putting little dents into his ego all the way.
"Good luck, Naoto!"
