[OPEN LOG] Welcome to Cape Beryl!
Who: Everyone!
When: Spring 2nd - all day.
Where: All across Cape Beryl.
What: You've splashed down into the Harvest Goddess's sacred pond, pulled yourself out - or perhaps been pulled out by an out-of-breath and soaking stranger, shaken off the worst of the shock of the cold and the unexpected trip underwater, and likely by now noticed that the little silver piece of jewelry that put you through this seems to have found its way around your neck.
Now you ought to get your bearings. Leave Goddess Grotto whenever you're ready, take the path out along a beach and up the cliffs to a village - see where you are, maybe if you can get directions. No matter what, you're going to realize that you're somewhere new - but maybe some of the Bower Village townspeople will be willing to help you get sorted out. If nothing else, maybe you'll be drawn into talking to anyone else you might catch sight of wandering the village, disoriented, soaked to the skin, and with a silver heart-shaped pendant around their neck. Depending on how you see it, you're not all alone - not any more than everyone else, anyway.
Headers for open interactions in example locations will be posted - but by all means, start threads wherever and with whoever you like!
Rating: Expected K-PG - subject to change as appropriate.
It's a cool, early spring day - the air and the breeze may not agree with anyone with wet clothes. But apart from that, the atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful; distant chirps of birds can be heard from the mouth of Goddess Grotto to Mt. Throne. The trees and grasses are pale green and flowers are budding in the meadows - not to mention the garden at Florist Lilia and de Sainte-Coquille Park.
And the town at the top of the cliffs is somewhat drowsily at peace. It's far from deserted - stabled behind a house on the town's east side is a healthy-looking mule, and a pair of chickens and a goat hang around in a pen behind an inn, the town's brightly-dressed mailwoman is out and about, as is the town watchman, who will likely be ready to approach anyone with an unfamiliar face before they can approach him, if he happens to catch them on his rounds. However, although anyone may freely knock on any of the doors in Bower Village and expect a polite "come in", no one is prepared for company, and whoever is inside might jump at finding themselves talking to a clearly displaced stranger!

So, while he'd expected to either announce himself or be noticed eventually, he hadn't thought he'd been noticed quite yet. He certainly hadn't expected such sudden, sharp words from someone who looked like Deuce. So Zed actually put his hands up in an automatic gesture of surrender, looking alarmed. The citizenry was quickly proving harmless enough, even if he'd been getting some strange looks for wearing armor.
Many of the people who'd arrived with him, however, were proving quite scary. "All right! I am showing myself! So please do not shout!"

Of course, that much was never Deuce's favorite. Granted that she was always the most submissive and docile, but every roses has its thorn and Deuce was the personification of that. She knew where to bare her fangs and where to not. This one was the perfect moment to imply the former.
Still, since the guy seemed to be... surrendering, Deuce visibly relaxed as he appeared. He was making this easier, and probably that was for the best.
"Who are you?" Deuce's question was not in any threatening-tone, but she definitely demanded an immediate answer regardless. "Are you behind all of this?"
Obviously, she hadn't noticed Zed's heart pendant yet.

The heart pendent, as far as Zed was concerned, could be nothing good. And, against the dark metal of his armor, it was probably quite hard to see. But, as was fast becoming a habit, he gave it an angry tug, like a dog might give a consticting leash.
"I only wished to find out more about my other allies! We all have one enemy - therefore, we should be friends!"
Of course, following her had probably been a mistake. At the least, she'd obviously taken it the wrong way. This, however, was in large part because Zed was unused to communicating with people - actually having to talk and listen - on his own, outside a small few. He tended to make himself as noticeable as possible, just out of habit...but people usually didn't, except to notice he was a demon.
No one had, so far. Strangeness on top of strangeness, and he couldn't figure it out. Thus, Zed had resorted to something almost alien to him - caution.

When Zed showed his heart necklace with his own, unique way, that was when Deuce's suspicion of the guy started to fade totally. Again, her friends might get angry for the over-kindness that she was showing here. Any random person would see this as a pure naivety. But her ideals were never that shallow. Everybody deserved a chance of being accepted by others.
"Your name."
Her soldier side still demanded her, though. This guy could lie, for all she had known.

It was a sign of how bad and strange and frustrating the day had been going so far, and how on edge Zed was, that this was all he gave by way of introduction.
However, he wasn't quite so down and out that he couldn't retaliate to the interrogation it felt as though he'd suddenly come under. Glaring in annoyance and frustration, the demon pointed back at Deuce. The gesture was theatric and overly dramatic for being such a simple one. If nothing else, putting on his old dramatics made everything less strange.
"And now, your name! It is only fair!"
no subject
"Deuce."
There was no need to say her title as the number two of the Class Zero, right? Since so far, she had got the idea that this place had no knowledge of his military academy. She was also slowly composing herself, her shoulders fell down in ease.
"Why are you following me, then?"
Just a curious question. But a question that was bound to be asked sooner or later.
Somehow this notif got eaten. I am so sorry! T_T
She'd had a necklace. He'd followed her to try and see if she knew any more of what to do or how to react to this than he did. That was all - that was usually the extent of it, where Zed was concerned. So far, he still wasn't sure. If she had a necklace, that meant she was in a strange place far from home. She certainly seemed confident, anyway. Maybe that was a sign she knew more than the rest of them.
Fortunately, Zed was the type to recover quickly from being snapped at. He'd had practice.
"So, Miss Deuce, are you in or are you out?"
It's ok! Things happen!
And she was not doing the best job in hiding it from her face.
"I can't agree about how we're prisoners right now," a somewhat stern tone audible from her pitch. The people here seemed so nice, and the place was not even remotely close to a prison. "But I am more than inclined to work together to solve this mystery."
After all, two was always better than one. No matter what.
Even when they shouldn't.
"Perhaps the people of this town are not responsible. But someone is! Perhaps hidden away cowardly behind a wall of innocents!"
It had taken several people contributing to the talking down effort for Zed to concede even this much.
"But if you agree, then we should devise a plan. A plan to work together and find a way out!"
no subject
"On one condition," her tone was entering the lecturing tone again as her gaze pierced right at Zed's direction. "No more stalking included."
After living as a soldier for a long time, she had used that tactics for Fal'cie knows how much. But she was still against such plan if that was possible. Only when the exact time rose that Deuce would obey such a plan.

Zed's tone, in turn, was casual, almost flippant. It felt like he'd finally come out ahead of what had started out a very alarming conversation. More than that, he didn't really see how what he'd done qualified as "stalking" - it wasn't like he'd meant her any harm. He'd just been gathering information, which he'd agreed to do with a few of the other prisoners.
"Excellent! So that is that, then."
no subject
Letting out a small sight that vented out every bit of her disagreement toward Zed, Deuce relaxed herself on her spot.
"Then," it was then when her face turned all smile and beatific again. "I look forward to be your acquaintances, Mister Zed."
no subject
So he heard the disappointment in that sigh, but no dots were connected as a result.
"And I look forward to yours', Miss Deuce!" Well, it seemed the situation had improved markedly. Zed gave himself a mental pat on the back. "I was going to go to work finding my way away from this place. When I discover the path, I will come back and tell you, never fear!"
no subject
Though, Zed's next statement brought the brunette to her surprise, albeit very tiny.
"Where? How?"
no subject
And, in turn, Deuce's questions brought Zed up short, catching him fairly obviously off guard. He blinked at her for a second, apparently having no idea what she was talking about.
"I am going to walk until I figure out where I am. I have never seen anyplace like this before. Hence, it should not take me long at all to get back to a place I have seen before. This is pure and simple logic."
He nodded to himself - the plan sounded even more definite when he said it out loud. Logic, indeed. And Zed could go a long way without getting tired. Not to mention being able to run like hell if some monster or another decided to give chase. Maybe it wasn't the cool thing to do, but that was the advantage of going off by himself for this. No one would know.
