[OPEN LOG] Welcome to Cape Beryl!
Who: Everyone!
When: Spring 2nd - all day.
Where: All across Cape Beryl.
What: You've splashed down into the Harvest Goddess's sacred pond, pulled yourself out - or perhaps been pulled out by an out-of-breath and soaking stranger, shaken off the worst of the shock of the cold and the unexpected trip underwater, and likely by now noticed that the little silver piece of jewelry that put you through this seems to have found its way around your neck.
Now you ought to get your bearings. Leave Goddess Grotto whenever you're ready, take the path out along a beach and up the cliffs to a village - see where you are, maybe if you can get directions. No matter what, you're going to realize that you're somewhere new - but maybe some of the Bower Village townspeople will be willing to help you get sorted out. If nothing else, maybe you'll be drawn into talking to anyone else you might catch sight of wandering the village, disoriented, soaked to the skin, and with a silver heart-shaped pendant around their neck. Depending on how you see it, you're not all alone - not any more than everyone else, anyway.
Headers for open interactions in example locations will be posted - but by all means, start threads wherever and with whoever you like!
Rating: Expected K-PG - subject to change as appropriate.
It's a cool, early spring day - the air and the breeze may not agree with anyone with wet clothes. But apart from that, the atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful; distant chirps of birds can be heard from the mouth of Goddess Grotto to Mt. Throne. The trees and grasses are pale green and flowers are budding in the meadows - not to mention the garden at Florist Lilia and de Sainte-Coquille Park.
And the town at the top of the cliffs is somewhat drowsily at peace. It's far from deserted - stabled behind a house on the town's east side is a healthy-looking mule, and a pair of chickens and a goat hang around in a pen behind an inn, the town's brightly-dressed mailwoman is out and about, as is the town watchman, who will likely be ready to approach anyone with an unfamiliar face before they can approach him, if he happens to catch them on his rounds. However, although anyone may freely knock on any of the doors in Bower Village and expect a polite "come in", no one is prepared for company, and whoever is inside might jump at finding themselves talking to a clearly displaced stranger!

It was no use trying to remove the necklace then. It had to be some kind of magical object. The possibility of demons being involved in this was not entirely removed from Maron's mind. In her world demons were always causing trouble, magical necklaces that could not be removed was new, but maybe they were trying a new tactic.
"Have you met anyone that was able to tell you more about this place or these necklaces?"
no subject
Zed jerked a thumb at the door of the inn. "However, through careful observation, I have determined out that the innkeeper knows nothing! All he was able to tell me was that this place was called Cape Beryl. A farming village that was not expecting us. Of course, he might be deceiving us, but I'm sure I would have noticed his attempts."
no subject
Hmm, if the inn keeper was telling the truth that would really just make the situation more confusing. Some one had to have brought everyone here, if it wasn't one of the townspeople, then who?
Maron sighed.
"This is all very strange. Why would some one kidnap so many people like this."
no subject
Zed had never personally kidnapped anyone, of course. Alzahad, however, had always had a use for more warm bodies. An entire town had disappeared because of it.
...of course, the thought of St. Centaur brings back to mind why he really can't stay here, why he has to get out, and soon, maybe pausing just long enough to beat whoever or whatever thought this was a good idea black and blue. The worry shows on his face, too - Zed is not one for restraint, where emotion is concerned.
"Whatever wicked plans they have in mind for us, they have probably already begun with these pendents."
no subject
"That doesn't make any sense. Beyond bringing us here no one has tried to do anything."
At least no one had tried to do anything to her or to anyone she had spoken to.
"There could be another reason why we are here. This town really seems too nice to do anything evil."
It was a cursory judgement based only on what she had seen but Maron usually went with her feelings and it just didn't seem right that a place this beautiful would be evil.
no subject
Besides, this was a nice place - the nicest, prettiest place he'd ever been. Zed had never seen so much green or flowers or life in an environment before, outside of Asgard's grave. Even with the chill in the air, this was more alive than he'd ever seen a planet.
That was one of the strangest, scariest things about this place, because where on Filgaia could a town like this be?
"There could be any number of reasons. As many as the stars in the sky! I, however, do not intend to put my faith in kidnappers or thieves! Heroes never should. We were not brought here, we were kidnapped. And...and someone is responsible!"
...maybe, possibly not the people around them, though. But all that meant was that they might need to go hunting.
no subject
She didn't know anything of his background of course. They had only just met, but beautiful places did exist in her world. Usually they were just that, places full of life.
"I hope you won't go starting trouble with the people here while you are looking for the kidnappers."
Maybe he wasn't his nature to do that but running around accusing everyone of having something to do with this wasn't going to be helpful. Maron wanted to make sure things worked out in the best way possible.
"But, you might be right. Some one here could know more about this."
She considered what little she knew of the place.
"Do you think the local police have been told about this?"
no subject
Of all the options he had considered, saying that "informing the police" would be at the bottom of the list would have meant that it was even on the list to begin with. The idea of formal law enforcement was one Zed was only familiar with in passing.
...but it did make something he'd noticed earlier make sudden sense.
"I think I have encountered a policeman for this place - at the least, I see no other reason why someone would pace around so many times and not get impossibly bored! Wandering around is a very boring thing to do. And, if so, he knows there are strangers here." He'd also had some remarkably polite words with Zed about wandering around rooftops, but Zed didn't think that was worth mentioning. "We are getting very hard not to notice."
Especially as the day wore on, and there seemed to be more and more people with heart necklaces around every corner.
no subject
But, as Maron she had no reason to fear the police and in a situation like this it might be a good idea to at least speak with them. It was a relief to hear there was an Officer around.
"He must be on patrol if he is wandering around like you say."
The last part was disturbing too. Were there so many people being pulled in here?
"If he already knows then maybe I should just try to find a change of clothes and dry off. I can talk to him about it later."
She held out the towel so Zed could take it back if it belonged to him.
"Thank you for the towel."
no subject
"You are welcome. And I am Zed, by the way." It hadn't occurred to him until late to introduce himself - these weren't the circumstances he usually met people by. Looking back over his shoulder, he gestures at the inn. "The man in there has been very kind so far. You might check there - if you are interested in staying, he also has rooms."
Zed, for his part, wasn't interested in staying. But, you never knew. People could be weird, sometimes. Maron could have the room he'd secured for himself.
no subject
"I'm Maron Kusakabe," She made up for it now of course by giving her name and smiling, "It's nice to meet you."
He had been friendly and helpful and it was nice to meet people who were all in the same situation. It would have been better if they had all not been pulled here but at least they would not be alone and maybe they could work toward finding a way back.
"I guess I will have to talk to him. I will need a place to stay until I can find a way back home. Are you staying here too?"
no subject
The sooner, the better - this was a nice place, but it would only take one person who knew what to look for before things all went to hell.
"You may use the room I was using. I am going to set off and try to find my way home from here."
Still. The people with the heart shaped pendents had been nice enough. Once he found the road away from here, Zed actually thought he'd come back and show them the way. It wouldn't take long at all. And maybe they all had people they were trying not to panic without, too.
He nodded at the thought, and gave himself a mental pat on the back. Working as a team all by himself - he was figuring things out more and more every day.
no subject
So she had discovered on her way here. That might have been how they arrived but Maron wondered if that was even a viable why to return home. Maybe there was some other way...
Once she dried off at the Inn she planned to look around herself. There might be something in town the magical object she carried in her pocket would react to.
Of course she couldn't say that. One doesn't just announce that they are a magical thief back in their own home.
"I really hope you can find the way back."
I am so sorry, somehow the notif got eaten. *sob*
Maybe they had people they needed waiting for them. Like Aura needed him. Even Zed could sympathize with people in a situation like that.
The water had already thwarted Zed, and cost him his sword in the bargain. It was tempting to try to swim, just for another chance to look for Doom Bringer - he was obviously considering it, for a second. But then, with a little shake of his head, he discards the idea. Almost drowning had not been fun, bad enough to overpower even his dependence on the weapon.
"I will be as careful as anyone can be. Never fear! Once I find the way, I will show you all. We can leave together."
Notif's do that. They must be tastey.
So she smiled and nodded.
"And if I find the way out first I will make sure to come back and show you the way out."
But, after her clothes were dry. It was still a bit chilly out for exploring while soaked.
I dunno. I've always found 'em kind of chewy. Must be an acquired taste.
He smiled fit to burst. "Then it is a deal, Maron! One way or another, I will see you again soon."
And then, off he dashed. Before taking a flying leap from a fencepost and up onto the roof of the blacksmith's. Just to look around and get his bearings, before venturing back into the forest.
If cooked too long they do get chewy. Fried is the best way to eat them!
She put on her best smile as she walked into the Inn to greet the owner. Hopefully one or both of them would be able to find the way out and this unexpected trip might end up being a very short one for everybody.
