[OPEN LOG] Welcome to Cape Beryl!

Who: Everyone!
When: Spring 2nd - all day.
Where: All across Cape Beryl.
What: You've splashed down into the Harvest Goddess's sacred pond, pulled yourself out - or perhaps been pulled out by an out-of-breath and soaking stranger, shaken off the worst of the shock of the cold and the unexpected trip underwater, and likely by now noticed that the little silver piece of jewelry that put you through this seems to have found its way around your neck.

Now you ought to get your bearings. Leave Goddess Grotto whenever you're ready, take the path out along a beach and up the cliffs to a village - see where you are, maybe if you can get directions. No matter what, you're going to realize that you're somewhere new - but maybe some of the Bower Village townspeople will be willing to help you get sorted out. If nothing else, maybe you'll be drawn into talking to anyone else you might catch sight of wandering the village, disoriented, soaked to the skin, and with a silver heart-shaped pendant around their neck. Depending on how you see it, you're not all alone - not any more than everyone else, anyway.

Headers for open interactions in example locations will be posted - but by all means, start threads wherever and with whoever you like!

Rating: Expected K-PG - subject to change as appropriate.

It's a cool, early spring day - the air and the breeze may not agree with anyone with wet clothes. But apart from that, the atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful; distant chirps of birds can be heard from the mouth of Goddess Grotto to Mt. Throne. The trees and grasses are pale green and flowers are budding in the meadows - not to mention the garden at Florist Lilia and de Sainte-Coquille Park.

And the town at the top of the cliffs is somewhat drowsily at peace. It's far from deserted - stabled behind a house on the town's east side is a healthy-looking mule, and a pair of chickens and a goat hang around in a pen behind an inn, the town's brightly-dressed mailwoman is out and about, as is the town watchman, who will likely be ready to approach anyone with an unfamiliar face before they can approach him, if he happens to catch them on his rounds. However, although anyone may freely knock on any of the doors in Bower Village and expect a polite "come in", no one is prepared for company, and whoever is inside might jump at finding themselves talking to a clearly displaced stranger!

Naoto | Wet, Pissed off outside the Town hall | Opened!

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-03-29 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
She was soaking wet down to her shoes, wrapped up with Kanji's jacket on her shoulders, and not looking too happy. After having separated from her team mate to try and find some information, Naoto had headed straight to the town to find some answers. Specifically, town hall.

Alas, answers didn't seem to be what she'd be getting, only more questions. At the very least she knew where they were--Some place name Cape Beryl, indicating they weren't even in Japan anymore-- but other then that she had nothing. No idea how they'd gotten there, no explanation for the charm necklace she wore around her neck that despite her best efforts, she could not remove. She could see that the Mayor was well meaning, but honestly did not know anymore then she did.

Which left her all the more frustrated.

And so Naoto stood outside Town Hall, soggy and grumpy. Now what...?

Joan had simply just wandered up to town hall. She wasn't looking for information, at least not in the conscious way Naoto was. Her armor abandoned behind on the banks of the pool - she would be glad enough if she never saw the pieces again. The blond stood with her metal circlet still around her head, clad in a turtle-necked deep purple long-sleeved dress that barely wanted to go past her hips. She was just as wet standing there in her socks.

Despite the wetness though, she didn't really look unhappy. The way she was glancing up to the building was more stoic than anything, pokerfaced and quiet. Her own charm laid against the rise of her chest, black as could be for now.

It took her a moment to even note Naoto but when she did it was without real acknowledgement beyond just simply beginning with a question. "Where are we?"

"Mm?"

The sudden voice knocked Naoto out of her current state of grumpy thoughtfulness, and she looked up to see... well then. Obviously it wasn't just her and Kanji anymore. The woman was soaked, like her, and also wearing one of those heart shaped pendants.

Naoto noted that unlike with her and Kanji, both their stones seemed to remain black. How peculiar...

"We've seemed to have ended up in a place known as 'Cape Beryl'. Which is very far from where I'm from."

Her voice had deepened without meaning to--she needed to work on that habit.

"It seems we suffered from a similar fate... I'm Naoto Shirogane. And you are...?"
saintofstoic: ([02])

[personal profile] saintofstoic 2013-03-30 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Joan of Arc."

She was still looking over the building before her. It wasn't near as grandiose as those of St. Kleio.

After a moment she turned her glance over to Naoto. Cape Beryl.
detective_shirogane: (That's... improbable)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-03-30 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"... Joan of Arc?"

Okay. Give Naoto a second to process this.

"You... don't mean the french historical figure, do you?"

She shouldn't be so incredulous... after all, Naoto was the one who jumped into TVs and used another side of herself manifested as a Mythological figure to defeat Shadows, had taken on gods themselves. Yet she was still a little thrown off by the fact this mysterious spring may have summoned the Legendary Joan of Arc.
saintofstoic: ([25])

[personal profile] saintofstoic 2013-04-01 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes."

There was a beat there before it occurred to Joan that this was a stranger. This wasn't another student, this wasn't someone like her. Even having to tell someone her name seemed weird and now this was even stranger.

"She was my original."
detective_shirogane: (Excuse me?)

Naoto is now confused!

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-01 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Your... 'original'."

What sort of world had Naoto wandered into? Or perhaps what sort of world had this Joan wandered out of?

"So I take it you're a copy... a clone, of Joan of Arc?"

Was it still even possible to find DNA of the woman to clone in the first place? She knew that cloning humans was highly illegal as well, back in her version of Japan.

Naoto soon realised she was staring at the young woman as her brain worked a million miles a second, and quickly cleared her throat. Perhaps she should give more detail.

"Where I am from, cloning humans is extremely illegal. So you'll have to pardon me if I... have some trouble believing this."

Naoto took a deep breath, trying to center herself.

"...Of course, if what you're saying is true, that means that perhaps you're from the future of my world where cloning is now legal, or... some other world separate from my own, which is looking to be all the more probable."

Ugh. Her own head was starting to hurt at this rate...
saintofstoic: ([32])

[personal profile] saintofstoic 2013-04-01 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't ask you to believe."

There was no malice in her voice at that. It was simply accepted fact at St. Kleio that everyone save for Shirou was a clone. And beyond the walls of St. Kleio, the world was a big and unknown place. Joan had thought little of how people outside would think of her and found now that it affected her very little indeed.

Because this couldn't be real anyhow, could it. Because one didn't simply start burning to wake up swimming in a lake, did they.

Joan gave a long sigh out as she began to realize that.

"We're likely dead after all. What does it matter if I was or wasn't her clone now. All of that is over."

Naoto couldn't help but wince slightly at her words. Rise-chan and Yosuke-senpai always got on her back for her lack of tact, and this was proof in point of it.

Then again, would Rise-chan have been able to hold back at such a bizarre proclamation?

"...I apologize, that was rude of me."

Understandable, but still rude. Yet at her next words, Naoto's eyes widened again. D-dead? That icy fear in the pit of her stomach rised again, that perhaps she and Kanji had, during that battle with Izanami...

No. No, she was not dead.. She refused to believe that. Shaking her head to drive that thought from her mind, and looking back at the young woman before her.

"...It does not matter if you were her clone, since that does not preclude to you being the 'original' herself. You are your own person, no different than how identical twins share the same DNA but are themselves individuals."

She glanced down, trying to think of something to say...

"I do not know if I am dead-I merely was following the footprints of a friend to a pond in the forest and found something shining in the water. When I reached in, I was pulled the rest of the way."

This entire day couldn't get more bizarre, could it?

[personal profile] saintofstoic 2013-04-04 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Joan listened in a detached manner, much as she had done in everyday school life. She had had few friends in school, spoke seldom to others and while she wasn't precisely cold had always been so stern looking that others avoided her naturally.

"You are your own person, no different than how identical twins share the same DNA but are themselves individuals."

She glanced over then, eyes wide and expression obviously one of surprise. Her gaze was intense, astounded, and internally she grapples a moment with the urge to grasp onto the other girl's shoulders.

Tell me that again. Even if it's somehow a lie. It was like staring straight at Shirou on that balcony again and--

She swallowed roughly and looked away. Were her hands shaking? Maybe. She noted Naoto's explanation of what she had been doing moments before she arrived here.

Joan's own reply came whispered, a little broken and quiet. "I woke up to someone's voice calling me... a classmate's voice. He was yelling my name. And-- the fire."
detective_shirogane: (What is it?)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-04 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Naoto had an uncanny ability to cut straight to heart of someones issues very unwittingly; Kanji could vouch to that. Naoto blinked back at Joan's reaction, wondering if she had touched a nerve.

But, then... based on what Joan had said before, perhaps she'd always been told she was just a 'copy' and nothing more then the famous historical figure? How does one cope with their autonomy being taken from them in such a way? Naoto couldn't help but feel like such an existence would be lonely and painful to a certain extent. Was Naoto the first to say that out loud to her? She remained silent as Joan explained the circumstances of her arrival.

"Fire...?"

Hadn't the historical Joan of Arc been burned at the stake? Perhaps she was delving too deep in their first meeting. Naoto had a bad habit of that still, her detective instincts kicking in.

"...At the very least, you seem alright now. And whether you or I did... die, in our respective times, we seem to be alive here. I suppose we should take heart in that."

She was pretty sure she was alive, because otherwise she'd nearly drowned... while she was already dead? Ugh, confusing. All the same, she tried to be encouraging to the other girl. Sometimes she wished she had Rise's skills when it came to being encouraging and upbeat.

whiteserenade: (Ace)

Naoto's social link get!

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-03-30 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Unlike the blue haired detective, Deuce had already gone here and there in this town. While there was definitely a spot or two that she had missed, the general blueprint was already by her head. Ace had helped her gather the necessary information as well, at least the base of it.

And it helped tremendously. After she had noticed the bulletin board, she had gone to the said place and she was served with a room, as well as a spare pair of clothes to change, which consisted of just plain white shirt with blue skirt with the same plainness. Deuce didn't rest immediately, of course. She had met a lot of people that seemed to be stuck with her in this Cape Beryl already, and it was easy for her to distinguish them. Mainly from their wet clothes and presumably their heart pendants.

So with that in mind, Deuce had borrowed a stack of towels with her from the inn people, and she was going on her small journey of helping others in need: The new arrivals. After all, they were in this together and they needed to help each others, right?

At one occasion, the flutist was passing by the Town Hall and she quickly noticed the other female, although Naoto's choice of clothing might make Deuce questioned Naoto's gender as of now. Still, she quickly made her beeline toward Naoto with the quickest pace she could afford.

"Here."

...And when she did arrive before her, Deuce made no further ado to immediately offer the stranger a piece of towel, a genuine smile was tacked brightly on her lips. She, of course, wouldn't take a no for this. If Naoto refused her offer, she would probably still force her to take the thing. Politely.

And if Naoto was quick enough to notice, just like how she always was, she would be able to tell Deuce's heart pendant dangling over her neck easily. Deuce made no attempt to hide it.
detective_shirogane: (What is it?)

You have now gained the Power of the Wheel of Fortune Arcana!

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-03-30 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"H-huh?"

Welp, that had Naoto blink. She glanced up at the young woman, then looked again at the towel, before gingerly reaching out to take it.

"Thank you."

Voice deepened again. It seems like it's only with Kanji she was comfortable enough to let her voice be 'natural', so to speak. Looking over the young woman again as Naoto removed her hat to dry her hair, she noticed the heart pendant as well. Having a towel and dry clothing already though... hrm.

"Were you dragged in here as well by a shiny object in a pond?"

You're now able to summon--

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-03-30 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? This... person seemed to had unnaturally deep voice? Kinda different from Deuce's initial guess, but not that she actually had something against it. Still, she was pretty grateful when the other female took the towel.

"You're very welcome."

A soft and quick answer, just like she was always been. It was also when Deuce darted her eyes over Naoto's figure that she noticed the faintest hint of her heart pendant. As if it wasn't obvious enough that Naoto was also a new arrival.

"I was," a sigh, more of an exasperated one, came out from her lips as she spoke. "I am still confused of all of this, though."

Her once radiating smile was turning into a dry and weak smile, more or less.
detective_shirogane: (How troublesome.)

Norn! ...Somehow!

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-03-30 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Naoto rubbed the towel through her still dripping hair as she listened to the other girl, before using it on her face and neck as well.

"I along with a friend of mine was dragged in here as well... the locals don't seem to have anymore information then we do."

The towel had done as much as it could to dry herself off; she placed it around her neck, tilting her head towards the other girl.

"...I'm Naoto Shirogane. And you are?"

She seemed nice enough...

Her green eyes seemed to give their own unique radiant light as Naoto said about her friend got dragged along with her. Most possibly because she could relate to it so bad.

"Is that... so?" her eyes turned downcast slightly. "My friend is here with me as well. He's probably still gathering more information for us, though."

Yeah, she could picture clearly that Ace working his best up to find shelter, or anything else that would everyone here survive. Should anything horrendous exist here, that is.

At her introduction, yet another adorable smile was shown clearly on her pure face.

"My name is Deuce. Nice to meet you too, Miss Naoto."

At that, she also offered her her own hand for a handshake. If any, she was always polite and this was more than necessary for Deuce. Her name might also sounded rather suspicious and it seemed like a codename, but... It was actually her real name. She just hoped that Naoto would understand that.
detective_shirogane: (fidget fidget)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-03-30 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's good. I admit, I'd be... somewhat more unsettled if I was completely alone here."

...Wait, why was she saying that out loud to this girl? It wasn't like her to admit such things. Maybe her time with the Investigation team had softened her up more then she'd been aware.

At Deuce's introduction, Naoto reddened a bit, realising that she could tell she was a girl. She cleared her throat, reaching out and taking the girls hand, shaking it firmly, but not enough to hurt of course. When she spoke again, her voice had heightened a bit.

"Deuce-san, I see. Out of curiosity, where did you get your towel? I suspect you also got a change of clothing as well."

It couldn't hurt to get a bit more dry...
whiteserenade: (Cater)

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-03-31 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmm," she chimed, happily even. "If we're together with him- With everyone else, I'm sure there's something that we could do."

Ah, her praising on her partner was rather unnecessary, truthfully. But Ace was always the one man that she could depend on. And it just came out like that. Not that there was anything actually wrong with it. Ace deserved the compliment, that much was clear.

But that was a good thing, wasn't it, Naoto? Since your somewhat-cool aptitude had left a good impression within Deuce. Naoto seemed to be coping the things amazingly, at least on her exterior. How the other female blushed made Deuce smile yet again.

"The inn," she answered as she raised a finger toward the path to the said building. "They even gave me a room to stay."

Temporarily, but still counts.
detective_shirogane: (Heh.)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-01 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"You're quite cheerful, in spite of this current situation, aren't you?"

Naoto couldn't help that small smile herself now. It was reminding her a little of Nanako-chan... Naoto couldn't help but be impressed as well. At Deuce's explination, Naoto followed her pointing finger and glanced towards the building.

"Really? That's quite generous of them... Though I suspect now they're going to be quite full."

She wondered if they'd be willing to lend her and Kanji a room as well, along with the change of clothing. Though the idea of changing her bindings... ugh. She'd cross that bridge when she came to it.
whiteserenade: (Kurasame)

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-04-01 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, um-"

Naoto's word seemed to hit a weak spot of her, since it was clearly visible from the way Deuce was blushing red from embarrassment. Well, maybe she was being overly cheerful? If her friends witnessed that, they would review her childishness. Still would not stop her from being an optimistic girl like she had always been, though.

"A-Am I?" she asked the rhetorical question at Naoto, twiddling her hair awkwardly with her index finger. "It's just... Being pessimistic would not bring us anywhere, right?"

Her expression made a better turn at Naoto's other statement, though. For her face was now shining with her smile again.

"If it's full, I don't mind sharing a room." A beat. "If you aren't against it, of course."

After all, Naoto could definitely use a quick change of clothing. The last thing the newcomers wanted to have was probably getting a cold from all those swimming.
detective_shirogane: (Reporting for Duty.)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-01 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, good point. I'm just known to be rather cynical in my observations. I have several friends who are more of the 'optimists' in our group."

Teddie, Rise... even Kanji sometimes could be able to get her out of a funk when she felt herself being dragged down.

At Deuce's statement, Naoto's smile softened all the more. She was a very sweet girl, wasn't she?

"I appreciate the offer. Depending on the circumstances, I may take you up on that..."

Her shoes were still horribly squishy, after all. But... Naoto was a person of curiousity, and couldn't help but ask.

"Where are you from, exactly? I am from the country of Japan myself; currently residing in a small town known as Inaba. Does that ring any bells to you?"
whiteserenade: (Tiz)

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-04-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Being cynical is sometimes necessary, I know. But being overly cynical is uncanny."

In her opinion, that is. It was not like that she didn't know cynical people. In fact, a lot of her friends were actually pretty cynical, either by minority or majority of their personalities. It was even easier to name the optimists in her group; Deuce herself being the most noticeable one.

It took a small nod of agreement to counter Naoto's agreement. She always loved having a new friend, as well as spending her time with them. Especially since Naoto gave this... unique vibe. Inwardly, Deuce made a small oath to know the blue haired detective better in the future.

"Ah, I'm afraid I've never heard of it," she answered after a small pondering of the place. Inaba... Inaba... Nope, unfortunately. "I'm from Rubrum, country of Suzaku myself."
detective_shirogane: (How troublesome.)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-02 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Indeed..."

She could think of someone who had become so cynical and nihilistic it had nearly ripped the entire world, let alone the town apart. It was a sobering reminder to never let herself go too far down that path.

The name of Deuce's home city and country caused Naoto to raise an eyebrow.

"I would have to conclude then, that you and I are from different worlds... or different times. There is no country on Earth I am from known as Suzaku, to my knowledge."
whiteserenade: (King)

[personal profile] whiteserenade 2013-04-03 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
To be quite honest, the talk about judging the personality of other people didn't really taste well in Deuce's tongue. Fortunately, with the small 'Indeed...' from Naoto, it seemed like it was the most appropriate moment to drop the subject. Thus she did so.

Naoto's next words, however, still made her a little surprised. Granted that Deuce had gained more facts to guesses already from all her short discussion with the villagers, but there was still a part of her mind that still refused to believe it.

"Yeah..." Deuce idly nodded back at Naoto, still trying her best to accept the fact. "It seems like there are a lot of us who came from Earth."

At least from what she had gathered. Not that she had anything against it. She was actually already interested in knowing this Earth world, even.

"Maybe you'll find more people from your place, Miss Naoto!"

The final addendum was really necessary. Everyone could use a less-gloomy aura, right?
detective_shirogane: (Heh.)

[personal profile] detective_shirogane 2013-04-04 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Us? Ah, the others who had appeared in the Grotto.

"Yes, it's quite unusual... I've had--"

Wait, was it the best thing to tell this girl about the TV world? Then again, she didn't need to exactly mention it by name, did she?

"--Some experience slipping into a world different from our own, but there was always a way back."

She chuckled at Deuce's announcement.

"Perhaps I will. Though if it were my friends, I'd be more inclined to hope they remained at home... simply for the sake of them having a break from the unusual. It seems to follow us where ever we go.."

She tilted her head towards where Deuce had indicated the Inn was.

"Would you be willing to lead me to the inn in due time? I'd appreciate knowing who was giving out clothing, and ah... having some privacy to change."
